BILATERAL
COORDINATION: An expression of faulty ‘sharing
of information’ between the right and left hemispheres
of the brain. Easily tested for and these tasks are classical
red flags: auditory processing dysfunction, can’t
perform a jumping jack, doesn’t hold paper still when
trying to write, eyes don’t move smoothing when tracking
a target, or not able to tie shoes.
BODY IMAGE: A person's perception of his own body.
It consists of sensory images or "maps" of the
body stored in the brain. May also be called body scheme
or body perception. Having a person draw a picture of them
self can be an enlightening phase of what sensory channels
they perceive and which ones they struggle with.
BRAIN
STEM: The lowest and innermost portion of the brain.
The brain stem contains centers that regulate internal organic
functions, arousal of the nervous system as a whole, and
elementary sensory-motor processing.
